Oracle Integration Cloud 3, also known as OIC 3 brings a plethora of new features like Parallel flow and Cut-Paste etc. Using Parallel flow one can define branches to run two or more actions in parallel. Parallel flows
enable to perform multiple tasks at the same time, it is especially
useful when you must perform several time-consuming and independent tasks.
Let’s look at this OIC 3 feature with a simple example.
When a Purchase Order (PO) is created in ERP Cloud, a event is generated, OIC subscribes
to ERP Cloud Purchase Order (PO) event and send this information to
downstream systems. In this example we
will see how to use the Oracle Integration ERP Cloud adapter to subscribe to
ERP Cloud business events and send to multiple targets in parallel.
High-level steps to achieve this -
- Create new connections for Oracle ERP Cloud, ADW and FTP
- Create a new Integration and add trigger, invokes and the mappings
- Save and Activate the Integration
Navigate to connections page to create connection
Create Oracle ADW Connection
Create FTP Connection
Navigate to integrations page to create a new integration
At the center that you are seeing is a canvas where you will drag and drop actions such as triggers, invokes and mappings to build an integration flow.
Drag and Drop the ERP Cloud Connection as trigger and configure
Choose the Parallel activity and drag to the canvas after the ERP trigger
Can add name and description for the Parallel activity and each branches
OIC 3 has another interesting feature added to Cut and Paste the activities. This helps when you need to move a particular activity in your integration.
Choose the activity you want to move and select Cut
Now click on the + sign where you want to move the activity and then click paste
Now, click on Save and then your integration is ready for activation
Click on activate to activate the Integration
Integration is now active and ready to use
Now lets test the Integration. For testing we have to log into Oracle ERP Cloud and Create a new Purchase Order
Complete the details and click on the SUBMIT button. Kindly note the PO Number.
Now, when I go to Oracle Integration Cloud Service console and the Observability page to track the integration which I built, I can see the business event for Purchase Order I just created has been received and the integration has successfully processed the PO to FTP and ADW. In this case it has taken 10 seconds to complete the overall process.
Now, let me dive into tracking details where I can show you the request has been processed in parallel to multiple targets
Please do note another change in OIC 3, Instance Id in OIC 3 is alphanumeric whereas Instance Id in earlier versions were numeric.
Now lets check the Purchase order in both the targets ADW and FTP
We can see the Purchase Order was successfully synced in both systems
So we have seen, how easily we can establish the integration between the systems using OIC and also touched on some of the new of new features available in OIC 3.
